Hospital For Kambia

The
President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah,
officially opened the newly rehabilitated
Government Hospital in Kambia on Thursday
3rd June, 2004. The hospital which was
destroyed in 1995 during the country's
decade-long conflict was reconstructed
with funds provided by the European Commission.

UN
International Peacekeepers Day
President Kabbah on Saturday 29th May
2004, joined the United Nations Mission
and the rest of the international community
in Sierra Leone to observe International
Peacekeepers Day at UNAMSIL's Headquarters
in Freetown.
At a short but very impressive
and colourful ceremony, International
Peacekeepers Day was characterised by
a parade of UNAMSIL military contingents
at the forecourt of Mammy Yoko Hotel,
headquarters of the UN peacekeeping mission
in Sierra Leone, statements by His Excellency
the President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan
Kabbah, and Special Representative of
the Secretary General Ambassador Daudi
Mwakawago and the planting of a Remembrance
Tree by President Kabbah and Ambassador
Mwakawago.
To co-ordinate the event's activities
was master of ceremonies, Jamaican-born
Sheila Dallas of the Public information
Department of UNAMSIL.
