Sierra Leone Ready For Business.

Sierra Leone is well endowed with natural and mineral resoures. The country has the largest deposits of rutile in the world, in which the American-Owned Company, Sierra Rutile, will restart mining Operations following the injection of $25 million (twenty-five million dollars) by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) of the United States government for Sierra Rutile to recommence.

Bauxite and gold exist in many parts and the opening of bids for the exploration of oil is at an advanced stage. However, it is for diamonds that Sierra Leone is best known. Diamonds have also been identified as the key reason why the Civil conflict in Sierra Leone lasted for a little over a decade.

With the declaration of the end of the war on 18 January 2002 by President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and with the establishment of the Certificate of Origin concept, otherwise known as the Kimberly Process, diamond mining has become vibrant once again. Sierra Leone is now ready for business again...
