The Government of Sierra Leone wishes to disseminate information to the public on the following themes to address the issue of escape of prisoners form the precincts of the Pademba Road Prisons as follows:

• On Monday 8th November 2004, Forty-five (45) prisoners escaped from a vehicle at the prisons gate at Pademba Road.
• A committee has been set up by Government of Sierra Leone to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the escape of the prisoners.
• The Police have already put in place new measures to ensure that this type of incident does not reoccur.
• Members of the public are reminded that it is in their own interest not to harbour these escapees.
• It is also in the interest of the security of all citizens for anybody with knowledge on the whereabouts of these escapees to make a report to the nearest police station immediately.
• Members of the public are reassured that Government is adequately addressing the situation.
