H.E. President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah

New Deputy SRSG Meets President Kabbah

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL), Ambassador Daudi N. Mwakawago, has formerly presented his newly appointed Deputy, Mr. Victor Angelo to His Excellency, President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.

Victor Angelo, who is of Portuguese origin, replaces Mr. Alan Doss, who had been recalled to the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Prior to his assignment in Sierra Leone, Mr. Angelo had worked in several other African countries with Zimbabwe being the most recent, from where he was posted to Sierra Leone.

President Kabbah,on his part, welcomed the new Deputy SRSG and informed him that the people of Sierra Leone have enjoyed the excellent cooperation received from UNAMSIL as well as the whole of the United Nations system, adding that the United Nations has always been a friend to Sierra Leone particularly in difficult times. The President told Mr. Angelo that his predecessor, Mr. Alan Doss was very hard working, and he hoped that Mr. Angelo would bring his vast experience to his new assignment. President Kabbah also assured him that his doors are always open for suggestions and comments.

Mr. Victor Angelo observed that he was very honoured to meet the President and that he would gladly contribute in whatever way he could inorder to give support to the efforts of government in rebuilding the country.
