Newly
Appointed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice
Takes Oath
TUESDAY,
AUGUST 3: The newly appointed Attorney-General
and Minister of Justice, Mr. Frederick Max Carew,
on Tuesday 3rd August 2004 took the oath of
office before His Excellency the President,
Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah at the Presidential
Lodge, Hill Station, Freetown.
The
new Attorney- General expressed great appreciation
for the confidence the President has placed
in him by selecting him to be among his able
lieutenants in steering the affairs of the nation.
He promised to do his job to the best of his
ability to ensure an efficient judiciary.
Hon.
Carew also stated that with a very efficient
Chief Justice who is always ready to deliver
justice, he knows he can fully count on him
in the execution of his assignment. He said
with an effective and efficient judicial system
that is prepared to administer justice without
fear or favour, he can be assured that the people
will be happy, adding that if the people are
satisfied with the judiciary, the government
too will be happy.
Congratulating
Mr. Carew on his appointment, the President,
Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, admonished his
new appointee that he is coming into the job
with a lot of relevant experience and expressed
hopes that Mr. Carew will not only play a pivotal
role in the administration of justice in this
country, but work closely with the Chief Justice.
The
President also requested Mr. Carew to work closely
with the Law Reform Commission as they are currently
looking at those areas in the laws that do not
quite favour development initiatives, like the
area of land tenure system.
