Mission Statement:
Develop policies and programmes
for the systematic and economic exploitation of
the mineral resources as well as formulate appropriate
regulations for the mining industry and related
activities to ensure that the nation derives maximum
benefit from the mineral resources, by undertaking
the following major responsibilities:
- Minerals Policy Formulation
- Mining negotiations
- Mining Concessions
- Mining and Minerals Exploration
- Geological Surveys
- Control of explosives for mining (Importation,
Transportation, Storage and Usage)
- Inspection of mining machines and sites
- Relations with International Mining and
Geological Organisations and Agencies
- Collaboration with relevant National and
International organisations/Institutions.
