Leone
By Marian Samu
Chief
Executives of Milestone Company, a subsidiary
of InterLink Holdings Company, a United Kingdom-based
company, have briefed President Kabbah on their
activities in Sierra Leone and new areas they
want to explore and intervene.
The
President of Interlink Company, Dr. Levy Nissim,
said Milestone Company has been engaged only in
the Sierra Leone business sector and are currently
in diamond mining activities in the Nimikoro chiefdom,
Kono District. Dr. Nissim said they have plans
to expand into the Sando chiefdom, also in the
Kono District with some additional investment.
Giving
a brief background of Interlink Company, Dr. Nissim
said the company is engaged in businesses all
over the world, but mainly in eastern Europe and
they are in oil exploration, agriculture, wood
and mining, and are also involved in the development
of medical centres.
The
Managing Director, International Business Relations,
Mr. Moshe Levy, who talked about other areas of
intervention said they have plans to build an
ultra-modern diagnostic centre in Freetown. He
explained that it is important for the country
to have a diagnostic centre because from their
observations of the medical sector, the country
has good doctors, but the problem he said, is
not treatment but diagnosing. A very good diagnostic
centre, he believes, will be good for the people
of Sierra Leone.
Mr.
Levy also disclosed that his company has expressed
interest in the oil exploration bid, adding that
they hope to build an oil refinery of substantial
capacity.
He
concluded by saying that their philosophy is to
work with the people and that that is why they
always offer joint business partnership with the
local people.
The
chief executives came to see President Kabbah
in the company of British Members of Parliament,
Honourable Tony Baldry and Honourable Toni Lawson
