President Kabbah Visits HMS Iron Duke

President Alhaji Ahmad Tejan Kabbah was Guest of honour on-board the British Royal Frigate, HMS Iron Duke,on Tuesbay,September 28,which berthed at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay,Cline Town,Freetown.
On arrival at the ship, President Kabbah was received by the Commanding Officer, Captain Peter Garden,who took the President on a conducted tour of the ship culminating in a private meeting in the control room where discussions were held.

New Deputy SRSG Meets President Kabbah

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL), Ambassador Daudi N. Mwakawago, has formerly presented his newly appointed Deputy, Mr. Victor Angelo to His Excellency, President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.

President Kabbah Visits Old Railway Workshop

The President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, visited the National Workshop at Cline Town in Freetown to take a look at what once used to be the Sierra Leone Railway. The President's visit was prompted by the idea to transform the old railway works yard into a museum for visitors and children who did not have the opportunity of using or even seeing the railway in operation.

African Union Bureau On Refugees Delegation Meets President Kabbah

The President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, had audience with a delegation from the African Bureau on Refugees.
The three-man delegation, led by Mr. Hassan Mohamed Ould Lebatt, Mauritania's Ambassador to the African Union in Ethiopia, was in Sierra Leone on an assessment mission on the state of Refugees in the country.

Ambassador Designate Of The People's Republic Of China PAmbassador Cheng Wengu presenting his letters of credence to President Kabbahresents Credentials

The newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mr. Cheng Wengu, has presented his Letters of Credence to President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.
During the presentation ceremony which took place at the Hill Station Presidential Office, the newly appointed Ambassador noted that the government and people of Sierra Leone, under the leadership of President Kabbah, have scored outstanding achievements in recent years in safeguarding national stability and ethnic unity as well as developing the national economy.

Russian Ambassador Designate Presents Letters of Credence

The President, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, has received the Letters of Credence of the new Russian Ambassador to Sierra Leone and of the Recall of his predecessor when Ambassador designate of the Russian Federation accredited to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mr. Dmity Malev, presented his credentials on Friday, 17th September, 2004 to the President at the Presidential Lodge at Hill Station.

The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, on Friday September 10th 2004, officiated at the passing out parade of thirty-five Cadet Officers and Ninety-three Recruits of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces, who have just completed a six-month intensive training at the Armed Forces Training Centre, Benguema..

President Kabbah At African Union Extraordinary Summit Of Heads Of State And Government On Employment And Poverty Alleviation In Africa

The President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, has returned to Freetown after attending a two-day Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on Employment and Poverty Alliviation in Africa which was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from 8 to 9 September, 2004.
The summit provided a forum for African leaders to discuss the challenges posed by pervasive and persistent poverty,unemployment and under-employment in their various countries and on the African continent generally.

Malaysian Delegation Meets President Kabbah

A high-powered eight-man delegation from Malaysia, led by the Malaysian Under-Secretary of State in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mr. Cheah Choong Kit, is in Sierra Leone on a fact-finding mission on agriculture. The delegation held discussions on agricultural development in Sierra Leone while they called on President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah on Monday, 7th September at the Presidential Lodge in Freetown.

Law Reform Commission Presents Report To President Kabbah

The Law Reform Commission which started operations in 2003 and charged with the responsibility to keep under review both statutory and other laws of Sierra Leone, with a view to their reform, development, consolidation, or codification, have presented their 2003 Annual Report to His Excellency President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, at his Hill Station Office in Freetown.

Seventh Summit Of The Authority Of Heads Of State And Government Of The West African Monetary Zone

The Authority of Heads of State and Government of the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) held its Seventh Summit in Conakry, Republic of Guinea on September 3, 2004. The Current Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of WAMZ, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, President of the Republic of Ghana, represented by Dr. Konadu Apraku, Honourable Minister of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, delivered the keynote address. His Excellency, Lansana Conte, President of the Republic of Guinea who was elected chairman of the Summit declared the Summit open. The Summit had in attendance the Executive Secretary of ECOWAS, members of the Convergence Council of WAMZ, members of the Diplomatic Corps and top government officials. Several sub-regional and international organizations, including the ECOWAS Parliament, UEMOA Commission, BCEAO, WAMA, WAIFEM and WABA were also represented as observers.

Presidents Lansana Conte And Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah Sign Communique

On Friday 3rd September 2004, a joint Communiqué was signed by Presidents General Lansana CONTE, President of the Republic of Guinea and Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Conakry, Guinea on the issue of the Guinea/Sierra Leone border along the Makona/Moa river.
The two Heads of State agreed and reassured each other that there will never be any conflict between the Republics of Sierra Leone and Guinea.
It was also agreed that the village of Yenga belongs to the Republic of Sierra Leone.
This Communiqué signed between the two Heads of State is the culmination of a series of discussions between the leaders of the two countries and their respective Ministers and officials since the issue of Yenga surfaced following the end of the civil conflict in Sierra Leone

Eskom Holdings Ltd of South Africa In Freetown On Energy and Power Talks

A five-man delegation of the Board of ESKOM Holdings Ltd. of South Africa has held discussions with President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and Vice President Solomon Berewa on the way-forward for improving electricity supply in the country. The delegation is in Sierra Leone on a fact-finding mission to see how their company can help Sierra Leone improve on the provision of electricity supply in the country.
