Kabbah In Kono and Kenema
The
President, Alhaji Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah,
has returned to Freetown from a one-and-half-day
visit to Kono and Kenema where he officially
inaugurated a primary school, an islamic
centre and a lawn tennis court constructed
by the third Pakistani contingent serving
in Unamsil (PAKBATT 8), as part of their
humanitarian effort to contribute to
the social development of communities
within their areas of deployment.

Chaveas, took formal leave of the President,
Alhaji Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, at the
Hill Station PresidentiaL Lodge on Tuesday,

United
States Gets New Embassy Complex In Freetown
The President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan
Kabbah, together with United States
Ambassador to Sierra Leone Peter Chaveas
and Director for Overseas Building Operations
of the US Department of State, General
Charles Williams, performed on Friday
21 May 2004 the groundbreaking ceremony
for the construction of a new embassy
complex in Freetown.
The
fifty million dollar embassy complex
is to be constructed at the foot of
Leicester Peak with a target completion
timeframe of twenty-four months in April
2006.

Mano
River Union Reactivated
A one-day summit of Heads of State of
the Mano River Union was held in the
Guinean Capital, Conakry with the three
leaders of the Mano River Union States,
Presidents Lansana Conte of Guinea,
Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and Chairman Gyude
Bryant of Liberia expressing their commitment
to support all initiatives aimed at
the promotion of confidence-building
measures and security in the sub-region
in order to strengthen cooperation amongst
member countries and speed up their
integration and sustainable development.

Kabbah Tours The North
The
President, His Excellency Dr. Alhaji
Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, returned to Freetown
Monday 17th May 2004 from a three-day
visit to parts of the Bombali, Tonkolili
and Koinadugu districts.
The purpose of the visit was to sensitize
the people about the importance of the
forthcoming local government elections
and to clarify any misconception people
may have about the elections.

Kabbah, returned home today Wednesday
12 May, 2004 from Ghana, where he witnessed
the ASANTEMAN ADAEKESE, the high point
of the celebration of the fifth anniversary
on the stool of the Asante King (The
Asantehene) His Majesty Otumfuo Osei
Tutu the second.

The new German Ambassador to Sierra
Leone, Mr. Dirk Baumgartner presented
his letters of credence and at the same
time submitted the letter recalling
his predecessor Friday 7 May 2004 to

Visits Sierra Leone
Commonwealth Secretary-General the Rt.
Hon. Don McKinnon is in Freetown, Sierra
Leone on an official visit.
On
Thursday 6 May 2004 the Head of the
Commonwealth Secretariat paid a courtesy
call on President Alhaji Dr Ahmad Tejan
Kabbah at the Presidential Lodge at
Hill Station where they discussed a
wide range of issues about the Commonwealth.

Sierra
Leone Commercial Bank Pays Dividend
The
Sierra Leone Commercial Bank has presented
a dividend payment of Le 1.3bn to government,
its sole shareholder. A copy of the
bank's annual report and accounts for
the year 2003 were also presented to
the President at a ceremony, which took
place at the lodge.
Chairman of the National Privatisation
Commission, A R Turay said this year's
dividend is twenty-five million Leones
higher compared to last year's.
