Koindu Declaration
Koindu,
the one-time commercial citadel
of Sierra Leone in the Kailahun
District which hosted an international
market, serving Guinea, Liberia
and Sierra Leone was once again
thrown into frenzied festivity approximately
three years after the end of the
rebel war in Sierra Leone. Sanity
was once more restored to Koindu,
which was devastated by the rebels
when they started their pillaging
and marauding campaign in 1991 from
neighbouring Liberia, as the Kissi
Parliamentarians from the three
border districts in Guinea, Liberia
and Sierra Leone, on Sunday, 20th
February 2005 presented a communiqué
to the Heads of State of the three
countries at an impressive ceremony
held at Koindu.

Anti-Corruption
Strategy Document Launched

corruption was identified by many
as one of the ills that is preventing
the development of Sierra Leone,
and also one of the factors that
led to the almost eleven-year rebel
war, His Excellency President Ahmad
Tejan Kabbah, on the return of democratic
governance initiated the setting
up of the Anti-Corruption Commission
in an effort to address this devastating
ill in our society.
To
further accelerate the effective
and efficient working of the Commission,
an Anti-Corruption Strategy document
has been formulated with inputs
from development partners like the
UNDP, the World Bank, Civil Society,
etc.
The
President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan
Kabbah formally launched the Anti-Corruption
Strategy document on 15th February
2005, at the British Council Hall.

that President Kabbah has raised
the anti-corruption campaign to
a new level of solemnity. He said
that the fight against corruption
should be total and that all segments
of the society, from high-office
