SPEECH
BY HIS EXCELLENCY
THE PRESIDENT
AT THE OFFICIAL OPENING AND DEDICATION OF THE
SEMINARY
CHAPEL - REGENT
THURSDAY, 29TH JUNE 2006
----------------------------------------------------------------
SALUTATION
I
am delighted to be invited to unveil this plaque
on the occasion of the opening of this Chapel.
I know that this Chapel is constructed as a place
to honour and glorify God. May those who worship
here be richly bestowed with God's grace and favours.
It
is a fact that from time immemorial believers
of all faiths have attempted to erect the most
magnificent edifices they can as a place for the
worship of their creator. The size, majesty and
beauty of their place of worship had always been
their earthly reflection of the attributes they
have of their God - mighty, beautiful and majestic.
The beauty and splendour of this Chapel, small
as it is, must have been a similar attempt to
erect a fitting place to worship and glorify God.
In measured proportions, it reflects the same
beauty and majesty usually associated with larger
places of worship.
I
heartily congratulate the Catholic Mission for
conceiving the idea of erecting this Chapel which
I expect would serve not only the inmates of this
seminary, but also the rapidly growing population
in its environs. Among these there are certainly
a large number of Catholics who may use it as
it will be easily within their reach.
With
these few remarks it now gives me great pleasure
to unveil this plaque.
